Pure sensory stroke caused by a small cortical infarct in the middle cerebral artery territory.

چکیده
A patient with the sudden onset of a pure sensory deficit involving cortical modalities in his left hand and foot is described. CT scan suggested the lesion responsible for the deficit was a small cortical infarct in the middle cerebral artery territory, involving the middle part of the post-central gyrus and interrupting thalamo-cortical pathways in the corona radiata.

Investigate the effect of TRPV1 receptor antagonist (AMG9810) on stroke outcome in the permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion in male rat
Introduction: TRPV1 is a non-selective cation channel with high permeability to calcium ions, and is also involved in the development of neurogenic and inflammatory pain. The increase in intracellular calcium plays a role in worsening of stroke. In the present study we investigated the effect of (AMG9810) TRPV1 receptor antagonist on stroke outcome in the permanent middle cerebral artery occlus...

Topographical evaluation of aphasic brain lesions can enhance our knowledge of cognitive physiology and plasticity. This prospective study was conducted on 100 stroke-afflicted patients with aphasia admitted in Valie-Asr Hospital (Khorasan, Iran) in 2003. Topography of infarct lesions was detected by a neurologist based on the map of brain vascular territories in CT-scan. Aphasic lesions catego...

متن کاملPure sensory infarct in the territories of anterior cerebral artery.
A 78-year-old man suddenly developed tingling sensations and sensory loss involving all modalities only in his right foot, distal shin, and calf (figure 1). Brain MRI revealed a small acute infarct in the left paracentral lobule (figure 2). Many patients with pure sensory disturbance by cortical infarcts have been reported in the territories of middle cerebral artery.1 We report a pure sensory ...
متن کاملAtherothrombotic middle cerebral artery territory infarction: topographic diversity with common occurrence of concomitant small cortical and subcortical infarcts.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE MRI has superior capabilities for the detection of cerebral infarcts compared with CT. CT was used to locate infarcts in most previous studies of atherothrombotic middle cerebral artery (MCA) territory infarcts. Thus, there was a possibility of missing concomitant small infarcts. More accurate identification of topographic lesions in MCA territory with MRI may help to est...
